The Affair (2019), originally titled The Glass Room, is a Czech-British film directed by Julius Ševčík. Set in Czechoslovakia before and during World War II, the film follows the lifelong connection between Liesel (Hanna Alström) and Hana (Carice van Houten). Liesel, a wealthy woman married to Viktor, commissions a stunning modernist house, the Glass Room, which becomes a silent witness to love, war, and betrayal.

Despite Liesel’s marriage, she and Hana share a deep emotional and romantic bond that transcends time and circumstances. Hana’s unspoken love for Liesel remains constant, even as war and political upheaval force them apart. Their relationship is marked by longing, devotion, and the constraints imposed by society and history.
